ASUS has announced its latest BIOS 323 for the ROG Ally handheld console which adds a few things but doesn't address the recent SD card malfunctions.

ASUS's New BIOS Improved Performance In "Performance Mode", Adds 30W Support But Where's The SD Card Fix?

The four major changes that the new BIOS include is mainly optimizations and additions when it comes to performance and power modes. Starting off with the list, there's support for a new 30W mode which will be enabled when the ROG Ally handheld is plugged into a 65W or higher wattage power delivery adapter or Type-C hub. This will enable users to charge the device at its full turbo mode of 30W rather than a lower wattage which was a concern of many users.

This will not let users charge in the full 30W power mode even if the adapter, hub, or charger is not powerful enough. ASUS states that this may happen with some docks and chargers and not others, depending on their rated power usage. This will eventually lead to battery draining despite the charger being attached and if that's the case, then you might just need to replace it with a more better one.

Besides that, the ASUS ROG Ally handheld will also fix the reset issue of the "Memory Assigned To GPU" setting which will now retain its previous value. The minimum panel backlight has also been updated from 25nits to 10nits which would improve usability in darker environments. In addition to that, the handheld will also receive general optimizations that lead to improved performance in the "Performance Mode" profile which is when the device is plugged into the wall. To sum things up, the following changes have been made by ASUS:

• UX improvement: Added 30W support when plugging in 65W or higher wattage PD adapters or Type-C hub.
• UX improvement: Modified minimum panel backlight value from 25 units to 10 units to improve usability in dark environments.
• UX improvement: On future BIOS updates, the "Memory Assigned to GPU" setting won’t be reset to default; it will now keep its previous value.
• UX improvement: Optimized performance in Performance mode when plugged in.

However, in all of this, ASUS still hasn't provided a fix for the malfunctioning SD card reader that is caused by the thermal solution which is a major concern for many users. ASUS did acknowledge the issue and said that a fix was on its way but it looks like users may have to wait a bit more.
